Maple leaf seattle12/8/2023 Some nice coffee houses and restaurants are close by. There is no parking lot as such but it is usually not a problem finding a parking spot on Roosevelt Ave. There is something for everyone at Maple Leaf Reservoir Park. Yet another example of this vibrant and progressive neighborhood. When they did the redo on the playground volunteers from the Maple Leaf community assembled the brand new slides, jungle jim and other play equipment. Surrounded by trees, Miller Park is one of the most popular playfields in Seattle, housing two pickleball courts, and. Since then Seattle Parks has painted permanent boundaries on the tennis courts. Going down the steps to the lower terrace (the original Maple Leaf Park that has been there for a good while) there are the new and improved softball fields and kid's playground. Jeff Parke organized the first group of pickleballers at Miller Park in 2015, when he and his team used to chalk the court lines. A few steps west fir trees frame downtown Seattle and the Space Needle. The park's designers did well in constructing this tasteful viewpoint that includes two large, sculptured and sliced (yes sliced! ya gotta see em) boulders taken from the Tolt and Cedar River watersheds signifying the two reservoir water sources. There you will find a commanding view of the Cascade Mountians Lake Washington, and Mt. My favorite part of all of this is to be found at the southwest corner of the park. No power lines or trees to contend with.just lots of wide open sky to fly your kite. With its location almost at the summit of Roosevelt avenue it has become a favorite of kiters taking advantage of brisk southwesterlies. If you don't want your picnic to get rained on there is a nice shelter at the park's entrance. So if you cycle, jog or walk it twice you have yourself a mile. The trail that circles the park is a half mile. Not to big, not to small, but just right. One day, about 3 years ago I was driving by and saw cranes and earth moving equipment with a sign announcing the construction of the new Maple Leaf Reservoir Park. It appears the city was thinking down the same lines. look at that beautiful lawn and greenery. I used to drive by the Maple Leaf Reservoir and say to myself. The Maple House is a newly renovated 1400 sqft basement in the Maple Leaf neighborhood just 7 mins away from downtown Seattle (by car).
